If you have set you sites on one of the best MBA programs in the country, you are going to have to come up with a way to distinguish yourself from the thousands of other candidates vying for each open place. A polished resume and impressive work experience are a good starting point, but it will take more than that to make you stand out from the other candidates for the top Business Grad Schools. This article will provide you with examples of creative ways to demonstrate your unique leadership abilities and stand out from the crowd.

Take initiative at work by recruiting at your undergraduate program for new talent for your company. This way you do not have to wait to be given a leadership opportunity to show initiative; you can make the opportunity happen. Companies like to find new employees through their own employees because of the personal connection and a reference that is known and can be trusted. As an added plus, by recruiting from your alma mater, you will build an in house network of allies, each of whom will owe you a debt of gratitude. Just be sure that the talent you draw to the company is of good quality, because good or bad, their performance will reflect on you.

Leadership opportunities can come from places outside of the workplace.
