Stanford MBA Interview Questions
MBA Interview Questions

Learn more about MBA Interview Question and get admitted to the school of your dreams.

The Stanford MBA Interview Questions are asked by alumni of the Stanford Graduate School of Business, which ought to provide applicants with an insider's view on the graduate student life they will be experiencing, if and when they are admitted into the program. With that being said, here are the things that you can expect during the interview and of the questions.

Informal Atmosphere

The Stanford interview is conducted on an informal, relaxed and laid back atmosphere, which can either be boon or bane to the applicant. You will be contacted by mail or by phone, after which you and the alumni will set a date, place and time convenient to the both of you.

Because of the informal atmosphere, you will be treated in a friendly fashion. Just keep in mind that being friendly is not necessarily equated with being non-critical, far from it.

Structured Interview with Spontaneous Inclinations

This might be a paradox to applicants. However, this can be easily explained thus: The alumni/interviewer will be provided a set of interview guidelines that will cover the topics to be discussed, which will range from your academic background to your personal interests.

However, the questions can take another path to account for your unique personality. The 45 minute prescribed interview time can stretch to as much as two hours! You will observe, too, that the interviewer may not bring up specific questions about your whole application package especially the essays and the letters of reference. This is because the interviewer is only provided your resume, which you will directly mail to him/her.

Common Questions

The Stanford MBA Interview Questions share commonalities with other MBA interviews, which can include, but not limited to the following:

* Your education history -- reasons for your school and major, subjects that you excelled in, accomplishments and failures, extracurricular activities, and even the finance aspects

* Your work experience -- career path and aspirations, challenges and accomplishments in your jobs, contributions to organizational change and development, and interpersonal relationships

* Your extra-professional interests -- books and movies, sports and entertainment

* Your character -- values and ethics in daily life, drive and determination, family and friends opinion of who and what you are

The most important questions, however, are the reasons for pursuing an MBA in Stanford. You have to be honest and forthcoming with your answers as Stanford alumni have a reputation for being very proud of their alma mater, as well as they should be.

If there are questions that you think are totally unrelated to your resume, don't be fooled into complacency. The atmosphere may be informal but you are still under evaluation, so thoughtful consideration must be given to each question. You can even highlight information about yourself that is not found in your application package!

You will also be able to ask the interviewer questions of your own, which again must be carefully crafted. This is your chance to ask for information that you will need to make it into the program and to become successful at it in the future.

Ultimately, your positive approach towards the Stanford MBA Interview Questions can benefit your life whether you are accepted into the program or not. You will learn more about yourself and you will learn more about the world you live in, which are good benefits for an interview.
