MBA Application Deadline

An important element to any MBA application to a top graduate school is not only an essential package but also your ability to beat the MBA Application Deadline. It is important to note the various application procedures imposed by respective schools. Some would require a scheduled interview before the application deadline just as others give information via online application as to their deadlines.

International applicants are advised to apply for the second deadline or a better option is to do it early so that they could still process and complete visa procedures. In cases of financial aid deadlines, it is differently classified from MBA Application Deadline. There are five rounds of deadlines but the third is not necessarily considered the final one. Depending on the school, there could even be a fourth round and some consider accepting applications even after the specified deadlines based on available slots in their programs. Some schools disclose information but others do not provide the details regarding their application deadlines.

A list of prominent schools with their corresponding deadlines in round 1, round 2, and round 3 and subsequent rounds are given for fall 2009. Harvard's first round was schedule October 15th of last year, January 6, 2009 and March 11, 2009 for the second and third rounds respectively. Stanford's deadline for the three rounds is dated October 29, 2008, January 7, 2009 and April 8, 2009 respectively. For the University of California, Los Angeles, October 9, 2008, January 8, 2009 and April 2, 2009 are their application deadlines. Yale University's deadlines are October 22, 2008, January 7, 2009 and March 18, 2009.

Harvard Business School provided an even thorough account of the application process and their MBA Application Deadline. This information is for the MBA class of 2011 who enter fall of 2009. Aside from the aforementioned date for an online application submission, they also put the notification dates of the MBA Admissions Board's decision. Round 1 is January 21, 2009, April 2, 2009 and May 13, 2009 for the second and third rounds.

Each round means a period in which they can pursue an application and not a step by step process to apply. It is specially advised that applicants should be avoiding server traffic during the last minute so they need to submit their applications earlier than the deadline of each round. It is best that they should comply during the first or second round.

An early MBA application submission could also mean that applicants have the chance to address other issues like visa for international candidates and even time to work on their English fluency. Others must have pre-requisite courses prior to their enrollment.

Harvard offers financial aid which is available regardless of the time students are admitted. However, since students can only apply for financial aid after their admission, making it to the first round would mean ample time to prepare their financial aid application. Another early bird benefit is the chance to land a spot in Harvard Business School residence halls and affiliated-apartments which are done through lotteries, hence, the earlier the better.
